We look the bike over where it is, agree the amount with you in person, and take it away. You are free to say no at any point.
A bike nobody rides is worth more to somebody else.
Most bikes we are offered are fine. They have been stood in a shed for a couple of years, the tyres have gone down and the chain has gone stiff, and the person who owns it has decided it is scrap. It usually is not. A bike like that, cleaned and serviced properly, is exactly the sort of bike somebody in North Devon is looking for and cannot afford new.

- Do you buy second-hand bikes?
- Yes. Simpson’s Bikes buys good second-hand bikes from people across Bideford and North Devon. We are looking for bikes that need a bit of love rather than a full rebuild, in any size, from children’s bikes upwards. Send a photo and we will tell you if it is something we can use.
- How do I sell my bike to you?
- Call or text us on 07411 282588 with a photo of the bike and roughly what it is. We will tell you whether it is something we can take on, and if it is, we will arrange a time to come and look at it in person before anything is agreed.
- What sort of bikes do you take?
- Bikes that are already in good condition: children’s bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes. What matters most is the frame, because a cracked or bent frame cannot be put right. Worn brakes, tyres and chains are all normal and none of them rule a bike out.
- Will you take a bike that does not work?
- It depends on what is wrong with it. Flat tyres, rusty chains, brakes that need adjusting and gears that will not change are all ordinary and fixable. A bent or cracked frame, or a bike that would need more work than it is worth, is one we would turn down rather than waste your time.
- Do you collect the bike?
- Yes, within Bideford and the surrounding North Devon area. We come to you, look the bike over, and if we can take it on we sort it out there and then. You do not need to get it anywhere.
- How much will you pay for my bike?
- It depends entirely on the bike, so we will not quote a figure before seeing it. Send a photo and some rough details and we will tell you honestly whether it is one we can use. If it is, we will agree the amount with you in person, and you are free to say no.
